MY STORY
I am a true Maritimer having lived in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. No idea why Prince Edward Island didn’t make the cut but I suppose I still have time to make that happen. I grew up, mostly, in a small community just outside of Halifax. My husband and I moved to Vancouver Island in 2000 when he was transferred to CFB Equimalt – only two coasts for the Navy. I enrolled at the University of Victoria as a full-time student to complete my degree. Prior to moving, I worked full-time and attended St. Mary’s University part-time. In 2004, we moved from Victoria to Shawnigan Lake. We love the Cowichan Valley area. The region offers something for everyone – outdoor activities, food and wine culture and, talented local artisans.
A Very Brief Resume
I am a graduate from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in Public Relations. I have a certificate in Web Design and Internet Marketing from Q College.
I love to learn. I am a geek and I attend WordPress Camp and Social Media Camp to connect with like-minded geeks. Such events are a great place to glean content.
I am an Advanced Toastmaster Silver and I love public speaking. It helps me to hone my storytelling skills. I have won awards for simply telling a story.
I am an avid reader. Inspiration can come from a simple line buried in the pages. Again, this is the power of a story – to inspire and engage.
Chief Walking Officer – Tank
Tank is the newest addition to the team. His main duty is to get me away from the desk and to get outside to enjoy the day. He hails from Cedarbrae Labradors Perm. in Cedar BC Reg (you can check out their Facebook page). He is getting used to the routine and the various challenges we set out for him. He loves swimming and, sailing around the Gulf Islands.
Like all puppies, he is smart and stubborn. Like most Labs, he LOVES food. Okay, he loves anything he can chew. I see a new dining set in my future.
